Boston College - Facilities Offices

Boston College was looking to create an open and collaborative office environment for its facilities department. To achieve this, the L-shaped section of an existing building was transformed into a dynamic workspace featuring conference rooms and cubicles arranged around a central spine that flows through the office.

Wood outlines the central spine, while concrete defines the pathways connecting various areas of the office. Glass walls enclose the conference rooms, allowing natural light to flood the space and to create an airy atmosphere.  To add a touch of school spirit, wing walls extending from the conference rooms introduce a vibrant pop of Boston College’s signature red, contrasting with the neutral palette of the office. Attention to the acoustics was crucial. Therefore, specialized materials were applied within the ceilings to minimize sound travel. This design not only reflects Boston College’s commitment to collaboration but creates an inviting workplace for all.
