ACADEMIC - BOSTON COLLEGE
Boston College - School of Theology
9 Lake Street was previously a residence hall and academic building for the St. John’s Seminary located on this site. As our team evaluated buildings for potential re-use it became clear that this structure had the greatest potential for the reuse of existing features, and was an excellent fit for the program needs. Locations of former individual bedrooms became faculty offices. The academic classrooms generally could remain as classrooms and the historic features of the first floor could be restored and reused.
In addition to the classrooms and faculty offices, the team was asked to update the existing chapel. The design included refinishing the flooring, painting, lighting and custom furniture. Chapel furniture included the tabernacle stand, lectern, table, and chair.
